For many years I read the account of the angel's visit to Mary, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
One of the early titles of Mary was "Full of Grace" or in Latin, "Gratia Plena" meaning "filled with the presence of God".
The idea of God's presence within Mary, radiating from her, and between her and her son is something I've represented here, filling the small space between their faces with glints of deconstructed gold leaf, imagining grace as a visible element.
