THINGS ABOUT ME.

I’m inspired by the clean, open feel of modern spaces, as well as the timeless beauty of old chapels, churches, and historic neighborhoods. The art and iconography in these places play a big role in shaping my work.

My faith journey has led me to explore the wisdom and traditions of the historic church. I’ve found that the teachings, writings, and reflections of early Christian thinkers, poets, and church leaders still resonate with us today, offering not just ways to keep our faith strong, but to thrive in it. All of this fuels my imagination and my approach to art.

The artwork you connect with and bring into your space becomes a part of your story, enriching your daily life.

When art has a unique style and story it resonates. That's why it stops you, grabs you, and makes you look and think. And that's why you resonate with art.

My Process Is Experimental

I work on several paintings at the same time, which is often several versions of the same theme. That way I can experiment with variations in color, texture, and composition. This also allows me to jump from one piece to another when a layer in the painting needs to dry. It also frees me up so that I don’t overwork a painting if there is another one to move to.

I layer acrylic paints, gold leaf, pages from old books, and various paper ephemera. Sometimes I paint over entire sections to knock back an idea that isn’t important to me anymore. Other times I remove layers to expose bits of interesting things from the early stages of the painting. As I complete a painting, each decision I make answers a question I feel the painting is asking me. If I’m unsure what to do next, I put it where I will see it throughout the day, and over time I discover what needs to be done next and take the painting to its conclusion.
